Bring what you already have into Coparenta
If you already have a schedule in a court order or an agreement, holidays you’ve agreed, receipts on your phone or expenses in a spreadsheet, you don’t have to start from scratch. Below are the steps for each, and what the app doesn’t do. This page describes the app as it works on 2 November 2026.
Citește în română →1. The schedule from a court order or an agreement
For anyone who has the schedule written in a court order or an agreement and wants to see it on the calendar.
- Keep the document beside you.
- In Calendar, while you don’t have a schedule yet, tap “I have a court order or agreement”. The button is also on the screen where you set up the schedule.
- Answer the questions one by one: whether the document sets the same schedule for all the children, who the child lives with in ordinary weeks, how often they stay with the other parent, when a stay starts and ends, whether there are other meetings, and whether the document also splits the school holidays.
- Check the schedule on the calendar, for the next six weeks.
- Then choose: save it only for yourself or, if the other parent is in the app, send it to them for confirmation. An existing shared schedule stays active until they accept.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t read the document. It doesn’t analyse it and doesn’t fill in anything from it: you give the answers.
- One schedule for all the children. If the document gives different schedules for different children, the assistant can’t transcribe them.
- Numbered weekends of the month (for example the 1st and 3rd) don’t repeat the same way every month, so the app can’t calculate them on its own.
- A meeting without an overnight stay doesn’t appear in the schedule: the calendar tracks where the child sleeps.
- The app has a single time for all handovers. If the document has different times, you choose which one stays.
- It doesn’t change the holidays. The holiday rules already in the app stay as they are, and you add the school holidays yourself, under Occasions, with the exact dates of the school year.
- When the document’s arrangement can’t be transcribed exactly, the assistant sends you to the advanced setup, with your answers kept.
2. The holidays from the calculator on this site
The holiday calculator on coparenta.ro shows an example of splitting the holidays year by year (it’s in Romanian). Its choices can reach the schedule assistant in the app.
- Open the holiday calculator and choose who has Christmas this year.
- Under the image, tap “Put it in the app”. The link goes to app.coparenta.ro/program and carries only the choices for Christmas, New Year, Orthodox Easter and 1 June.
- If you aren’t signed in to the app yet, the choices are kept while you sign in.
- In the assistant, at the holidays step, you see them next to the rules already in the app, each with a badge: “Same”, “Different” or “Missing”.
- If a rule differs or is missing, you change or add it yourself, under Occasions.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t write the holidays into the calendar. It only shows them next to the rules in the app, and you make the change.
- The calculator assumes alternation year by year. If you have a different agreement, you put it in the app the way you agreed; when you are both there, the rule enters the calendar after the other parent accepts it too.
- The Easter in the calculator is the Orthodox one. If that isn’t the case for you, the app tells you the choice from there doesn’t apply.
- School holidays don’t come from the calculator: you add them yourself, under Occasions.
3. Several receipts from your gallery
For anyone who has photographed several receipts and wants to go through them one by one, without reopening the form each time.
- Open Expenses and tap “+ Add”.
- At the receipt, pick photos from your gallery; you can select several at once, up to 10.
- The form opens for the first receipt: “Receipt 1 of 4”. You fill in the amount, category and description, choose the actual date of the expense and save.
- Tap “Save and go to the next receipt”. A receipt you don’t want to enter can be skipped with “Skip this receipt”.
- Who the expense is for and the percentage carry over from one receipt to the next. The date starts from today on each receipt, and you change it.
- At the end you see how many receipts were saved and how many have no photo.
What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t read the receipt. You type the amount, category and description: nothing is filled in from the photo.
- At most 10 photos at a time.
- If you close the batch before finishing, the remaining receipts aren’t kept; the ones saved so far stay.
- The expense is recorded under your name, as the payer.
4. Expenses from an Excel or Google Sheets table
For anyone who has their expenses in a spreadsheet and wants to add them all at once. The app reads a CSV file: the table saved as a plain file where values are separated by commas or semicolons.
- Prepare the table: the header on the first row (for example: date, amount, description), then one expense per row.
- The date can be written 15.03.2026, 15/03/2026, 15-03-2026 or 2026-03-15. The amount can be 1234,56, 1.234,56 or 120 lei.
- Save the table as CSV. The app puts it this way: in Excel or Google Sheets, File → Download → CSV.
- In Coparenta open Expenses, then Export, then “Import from Excel / Sheets”.
- Tap “Choose the CSV file” and pick the file. If you want a model, “Download the template” gives you an example file.
- Match the columns. The app guesses from the header which column is the date, amount and description; you can change them. Category, notes and currency are optional.
- Check the rows. The good ones are ticked. The ones with problems show the reason and can’t be ticked. The ones that look like duplicates are unticked.
- For the ticked rows you choose the category (if the file has none), who the expenses are for (if you have more than one child, or “Shared”) and how much the other parent pays, 50% by default. You can change these choices on each row too.
- Tap “Import”, with the number of expenses. They are all saved at once: if something fails, nothing is left half-saved.
What you should know
- CSV only. An Excel file (.xlsx, .xls) or .ods isn’t accepted: the app asks you to save it as CSV.
- At most 500 rows in a file, not counting the header. If you have more, split them into smaller files.
- Only what you paid. The expenses go in under your name; the other parent adds what they paid.
- The expenses go in as unsettled. They appear in the Expenses list, visible to the other parent as well, like the ones added by hand, and their share enters the amount to settle when the percentage is above 0.
- The date comes from the table, and each expense appears in its own month. Dates in the future or before 2000 are rejected. If a column has days above 12 in the second position, it reads the dates month/day and tells you; if the column mixes both orders, the rows are marked “Unclear date format”.
- An amount with a single separator followed by exactly three digits, like 1.234 or 12,500, is read as 1234 and 12500, not as decimals.
- The currency is the one in Settings. A row in another currency (for example EUR when the currency in Settings is RON) is rejected; nothing is converted.
- Duplicates: a row with the same date, amount and description as another in the file, or as an expense already in Expenses, appears unticked, marked “Possible duplicate”. You can tick it yourself.
- Rejected rows show the reason: the date is missing, doesn’t exist or is in the future; the amount is missing, zero, negative, too large or can’t be read; the description is missing; the row has more cells than the header. The other rows go ahead.
- A category is kept only if the file has a category column with the name of a category from the app; otherwise you choose it. The app doesn’t guess the category from the description.
- Descriptions longer than 200 characters are cut.
- There is no “who paid” column, no currency conversion, and receipt photos can’t come in from the table.
